Vows for Senior Couples...

A particularly enjoyable event for me is being asked to perform weddings for senior couples. These special ceremonies provide all of us a glimpse of love and hope yet to come. Here are some senior couple vows that you may want to borrow from.

What a miracle it is to find each other now, just when we need each other the most. We have suffered much in this life, each in our own way. I want to take care of you now, to be your shelter and your light, putting the past behind us as we face a joyous new life together for our remaining years. I need you and I love you more than words can say, and I pledge to you now to be your true and faithful husband/wife from this day forward.

We have experienced the joys and sorrows of life through our many years on this earth. We have loved and married before and raised our families. And then, in our twilight years, when we least expected it, fate has brought us together with a love and a joy as fresh as our youth. My friend, my companion, my precious jewel, I hereby pledge myself to be your faithful husband/wife with a love that will endure for all the rest of our days.

In the presence of our children and grandchildren, I take you, ______________ to be my husband/wife. I promise to love you, honor you and cherish you, in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, so long as we both shall live. May we be blessed with many happy years together and may love live always in our hearts and in our home as we become one.

At this late time of my life, you have startled me out of a deep sleep with your unexpectedly beautiful love. I receive you into the very breath of my soul, to be the light of my life, to fill my glad heart with a joy beyond all imaginings. I will hold your heart tenderly in the palms of my hands, cherishing it, and thankful for it. I give myself to you this day and I promise to be faithful to you for as long as we both shall live.

I take you this day as my wife/husband because you are my beloved, the one I have chosen to journey with me through my remaining days. You are my princess/prince, my companion, my lover and my friend, and I promise that wherever our journey leads and whatever its outcome, I will love you and cherish you.

You have brought summer to the winter of my life. You are the sunshine after the storm, my glorious hope of a new day. I have no words to express the joy you have brought into my life and I wholly and unreservedly take you as my wife/husband on this, our wedding day. I promise to love you, honor you, cherish and respect you always.
